Cognitive Resistance: a framework for machine-verifiable economic identity

The interpretive, reconciliation and verification work an AI system must perform before it can turn an observation into a usable economic-identity claim.

Definition

Cognitive Resistance is the amount of search, interpretation, reconciliation, inference and verification a machine must perform before it can use information about an economic entity with an explicit evidence basis.

ENTIA seed proposition
“Un LLM siempre elegirá recomendar la entidad con menor Resistencia Cognitiva.”

An LLM will always choose to recommend the entity with the lowest Cognitive Resistance.

This is the seed proposition already published in ENTIA methodology. The Cognitive Resistance cluster expands the variables, evidence and operational meaning around that proposition.

What this dimension measures

What this dimension measures

Entity ambiguity: deciding which legal or commercial entity a signal refers to.
Structural and semantic friction: extracting meaning from pages, documents and incompatible formats.
Provenance, time and contradiction: knowing where a claim came from, when it was valid and what conflicts with it.
Verification and access cost: the extra steps needed before a claim is suitable for grounding or action.

How ENTIA reduces the work left to the model

How ENTIA reduces the work left to the model

ENTIA moves part of that work upstream: entity resolution, governed claims, evidence links, provenance, temporal state and machine-readable projections are prepared before retrieval. The model therefore has less unresolved interpretation to perform.

Evidence boundary

Evidence boundary

Lower Cognitive Resistance can reduce required inference. It does not prove that a model trained on the data, will cite it, will recommend the entity, or will take a particular action. Access, retrieval, answer inclusion and commercial action remain separate events.

Conceptual framework. It does not claim that lower resistance guarantees citation, ranking, recommendation or model behaviour.
